FM Wang Yi calls on China, India to promote mutual understanding

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called on China and India to take meaningful steps to enhance mutual understanding and support. His remarks came during a meeting with Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri in Beijing on Monday.

Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized that both nations should avoid mutual suspicion, estrangement, and friction.
He underscored that improving and strengthening China-India relations aligns with the fundamental interests of both countries and their citizens. It also supports the broader objectives of protecting the rights and interests of Global South nations, while contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and prosperity.
Indian Foreign Secretary Misri highlighted the progress achieved through constructive dialogues and communication between the two countries. He noted that differences have been managed effectively, paving the way for the resumption of practical cooperation across various sectors.
Misri affirmed India’s commitment to working closely with China, particularly in celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties. He also expressed India’s full support for China as the rotating chair of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
