Russia-China to maintain fight against terrorism: Lavrov

During his visit to Beijing on Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov affirmed that Russia and China would continue their collaboration in combating terrorism, underscoring the deepening ties between the two nations.

Lavrov expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for their support and condolences following the terrorist attack in the Moscow region on March 22, which claimed the lives of at least 144 individuals. While the Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility for the attack, Russia has alleged Ukrainian involvement, though without presenting evidence.
'I thank the Chinese side for their condolences in connection with the terrorist attack in the Moscow region on March 22 of this year, for supporting Russia's fight against terrorism,' Lavrov stated, as reported by Russian news agencies.
Emphasizing the ongoing commitment to counter-terrorism efforts, Lavrov affirmed, 'Our cooperation on counter-terrorism will continue, including within the framework of multilateral institutions.'
The partnership between Moscow and Beijing has strengthened significantly, with both nations declaring a 'no limits' alliance in February 2022, just before Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Lavrov highlighted the unprecedented level of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction achieved between the two countries, attributing it to the leadership of their respective heads of state.
'Thanks to our leaders, Russian-Chinese relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction have reached an unprecedented level,' Lavrov remarked.
The discussions between Lavrov and his Chinese counterpart were expected to cover various pressing issues, including regional security in the Asia-Pacific region and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
