United States looks to deepen ties with Bangladesh
The United States will continue to take steps to deepen its partnership with Bangladesh. The US official made the remark when a journalist wanted to know what specific action the US is considering to deepen its partnership with Bangladesh.
US Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel said, There are a number of steps that we have and will continue to take when it comes to deepening our partnership with Bangladesh.
Following the general elections held on January 7, the US State Department released a statement expressing the nation's intention to collaborate with Bangladesh to advance their shared vision, emphasizing a commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
Highlighting the significance of the diplomatic relationship between the two countries, Patel remarked, 'You’ve heard me say it here before that last year was the anniversary of our diplomatic relations with Bangladesh, and there continue to be a number of areas– specifically in addressing climate cooperation, security cooperation– where we believe that there is opportunity.'
He further elaborated on the various avenues for collaboration, emphasizing the importance of engaging with non-governmental actors as a crucial aspect of deepening the relationship.
Patel stressed that opportunities to interact with non-governmental entities are key in fostering a comprehensive and robust partnership between the United States and Bangladesh.
