Saudi Arabia could recognise Israel if Palestinian issue resolved

Saudi Arabia's foreign minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan expressed on Tuesday that the kingdom could consider recognizing Israel under specific conditions.

Speaking at a panel during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Prince Faisal stated that recognition would be on the table if a comprehensive agreement is reached, inclusive of statehood for the Palestinians.
While emphasizing the importance of regional peace, Prince Faisal highlighted that peace for Israel is intricately linked to the establishment of a Palestinian state. When asked directly about Saudi Arabia's potential recognition of Israel within a broader political agreement, he responded affirmatively, stating, 'Certainly.'
Prince Faisal disclosed ongoing efforts with the US administration to work towards regional peace, with a specific focus on the creation of a Palestinian state. This, he emphasized, is particularly relevant in the context of Gaza.
However, it's important to note that after the outbreak of hostilities in October between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas, which governs Gaza, Saudi Arabia temporarily halted U.S.-backed plans to normalize ties with Israel.
According to sources familiar with Riyadh's stance, this shift reflected a swift reordering of diplomatic priorities in response to the conflict.
