US offers no comment on Russian statement over interference in Bangladesh's elections
The United States has opted to withhold comments regarding recent accusations made by Russia, alleging American and allied interference in Bangladesh's internal affairs.
During a routine media briefing on Tuesday, US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller stated, 'We support a free and fair election in Bangladesh.'
When asked by a reporter about the statement from the Russian foreign ministry spokesperson, hinting that the US might attempt to destabilize Bangladesh if the election results are unsatisfactory, Miller replied, 'I don't have any further comment on that.'
On December 17, Russia reiterated its accusations against the US and its allies, cautioning that dissatisfaction with the election outcomes could potentially lead to further destabilization in Bangladesh, akin to the events of the Arab Spring. The US declined to provide additional remarks on these allegations.
