At least 22 dead in mass shooting in US

At least 22 people were killed in mass shooting at multiple locations in the US state of Maine late Wednesday, according to media report.

The grim news emanated from a report detailing the horrifying shootings that transpired late in the evening.
Maine State Police issued a harrowing warning, describing an "active shooter" scenario that was unfolding in the city of Lewiston. The assailant unleashed his violence across various venues, including a local restaurant and a bowling alley, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in his wake.
NBC News reported that the brutality of these shootings left an additional 50 to 60 individuals wounded and in need of medical attention. The scale of this tragedy left the community reeling, and their thoughts and prayers were with those who had suffered and lost loved ones.
In an effort to assist with the ongoing investigation, local law enforcement agencies resorted to social media, posting a photo of the suspected shooter on their official Facebook page. The image depicted a bearded man, dressed in a brown top, blue pants, and brown shoes, who was seen carrying what appeared to be a semi-automatic firearm inside the ill-fated bowling alley. Authorities urged the public to come forward with any information that might help identify this individual and bring him to justice.
Additionally, law enforcement authorities released an image of a white SUV vehicle believed to be connected to the incident, soliciting the assistance of the public in identifying it. They pointed out that the front bumper of the vehicle may have been painted black, potentially serving as a crucial lead in their ongoing investigation.
In a shocking revelation, the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department disclosed that they were actively investigating two separate active shooter events, further emphasizing the sheer scale of this tragedy. The community united in their efforts to support the affected families and bring those responsible for these heinous acts to justice.
This incident serves as yet another grim reminder of the ongoing gun violence problem in the United States. According to the Gun Violence Archive, a non-governmental organization that defines mass shootings as events in which four or more people are wounded or killed, there have been over 500 mass shootings recorded in the country this year alone. This alarming statistic underscores the urgent need for comprehensive solutions to address the issue of gun violence and protect the lives of innocent individuals.
