No relations with Israel without creation of Palestinian state: Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed on Wednesday that it will not establish formal diplomatic ties with Israel unless an independent Palestinian state is created.

This statement came in response to comments from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who expressed optimism that normalization between the two nations was inevitable.
In a statement shared on X, the Saudi foreign ministry declared, "Saudi Arabia remains committed to its unwavering efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital and will not engage in diplomatic relations with Israel without achieving this objective."
The United States has long advocated for diplomatic ties between Saudi Arabia and Israel, with both former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden endorsing the idea.
However, Riyadh put early discussions on hold when the conflict in Gaza escalated, subsequently adopting a firmer stance on the issue.
The Saudi foreign ministry’s latest statement came shortly after Netanyahu asserted that formalizing relations with Saudi Arabia was not only possible but inevitable. His administration, however, continues to reject the two-state solution, which is widely supported by the international community.
