Iran doesn't seek war but will defend its people: Masoud Pezeshkian

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced Sunday that his country does not seek war but will defend its people and respond in a 'proportionate' manner to the latest Israeli attack.

'We are not seeking conflict, but we will protect our nation and our people's rights, responding proportionately to the aggression by the Zionist regime,' Pezeshkian stated during a Cabinet meeting in Tehran, as reported by IRNA, the official news agency.
He criticized Israel’s actions in Gaza, saying, 'The world can see that Israel’s supporters, particularly the United States, claim to stand for freedom and human rights yet stay silent on the killing of thousands, predominantly women and children.' Nearly 43,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been reported killed in the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
President Pezeshkian also called for the identification and punishment of those responsible for a terrorist attack on Saturday that killed 10 Iranian law enforcement officers in Taftan, Sistan-and-Baluchestan Province.
Warning of escalating tensions if the 'Zionist regime' continues its aggression, Pezeshkian accused the US of encouraging Israel’s actions. Iranian officials confirmed on Sunday that five people, including four soldiers and one civilian, had died in the latest attack.
Iran has previously cautioned that any attack by Israel would be met with an even stronger response.
