Iran's FM discuss latest developments in region with his Saudi, Qatari counterparts

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud discussed the latest developments in the region in a phone call Sunday.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement detailing the conversation, highlighting Amir-Abdollahian's reference to Iran's diplomatic efforts over the past fortnight concerning the "aggressive and criminal measures" taken by Israel in its April 1 attack on Iran's consulate building in Damascus, Syria. The statement underscored Iran's disappointment over the lack of condemnation towards Israel's actions from the international community.
Amir-Abdollahian reiterated Iran's stance on the incident, framing the response of Iranian armed forces as a legitimate act of defense, consistent with Article 51 of the UN Charter.
In response, the Saudi foreign minister emphasized the necessity of expanding regional and international cooperation between their respective nations, emphasizing the paramount importance of stability and security in the region.
Both diplomats affirmed their commitment to ongoing consultations between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
In a separate conversation, Amir-Abdollahian engaged with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, to discuss the latest regional developments.
During this exchange, Amir-Abdollahian provided insights into recent actions undertaken by Iran in response to developments in occupied territories, reaffirming Iran's stance on legitimate defense.
The statement highlighted Amir-Abdollahian's assertion that the root cause of insecurity in the region lies in the Zionist occupation regime.
Al-Thani echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing the critical need for stability and security in the region, while expressing concerns over Israel's actions and their potential to further destabilize the region.
