US CENTCOM intercepts Iranian drone in Arabian Gulf
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) made an announcement on Saturday regarding the interception of an Iranian drone in the vicinity of the Dwight D Eisenhower carrier in the Arabian Gulf.
According to CENTCOM, the Iranian UAV was intercepted for engaging in what was described as 'unsafe and unprofessional conduct during aircraft carrier flight operations in the Arabian Gulf.'
There exists a discrepancy in naming between most Arab countries, which refer to it as the Arabian Gulf, while Iran insists on its official and globally recognized name, the Persian Gulf.
Emphasizing adherence to international law, it was underscored that 'the US navy will continue to operate in areas permitted by international regulations.'
Earlier, on November 26, CENTCOM reported the entry of the Carrier Strike Group Eisenhower into the Gulf waters to aid USCENTCOM missions.
Subsequently, on November 28, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) released a video showcasing an Iranian surveillance drone capturing footage of the US carrier and its accompanying warships.
CENTCOM condemned this action as 'reckless, unprofessional, and irresponsible behavior exhibited by Iran.'
