Iran unveils attack drone capable of striking Israel
Iran has introduced a new drone, claiming its capability to target Israeli locations.
The Iranian Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics publicly revealed the Mohajer-10 on Tuesday during an exhibition and ceremonies held to commemorate Defence Industry Day. In attendance were President Ebrahim Raisi and high-ranking commanders from the army and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
This unmanned attack aircraft, bearing a resemblance to the United States' MQ-9 Reaper, was showcased in videos taking off from an undisclosed airstrip and in flight. It is purportedly equipped to carry various types of bombs and anti-radar equipment, as well as for surveillance missions.
According to reports from state-linked media, this upgraded version of the Mohajer, originally developed during the eight-year Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s, boasts the capacity to transport a 300kg (660lb) warhead, achieving a maximum speed of 210 kilometers per hour (130 miles per hour) while carrying 450 liters (120 gallons) of fuel.
These media sources further state that the drone can sustain uninterrupted flight at an altitude of 7,000 meters (4,350 feet) for distances of up to 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles), theoretically enabling it to reach Israeli territory.
