‘We will be glad to see our friend,' Putin invites Modi to Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended an invitation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Russia next year. 

In a significant diplomatic move, President Vladimir Putin has extended a warm invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Russia in the upcoming year, emphasizing the deepening ties between the two nations. 
Expressing his eagerness to host Prime Minister Modi, President Putin conveyed during a meeting with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at the Kremlin that Russia would be delighted to welcome its friend from India.
President Putin highlighted the upcoming visit as an opportunity to engage in comprehensive discussions on pertinent and current issues while exploring the potential future trajectories of the robust and enduring Russian-Indian relationship.
Minister Jaishankar, who held discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during the visit, reiterated the confidence in the regular engagements between Prime Minister Modi and President Putin. He underscored the anticipation of their annual summit next year, emphasizing the consistent communication and interaction between the two leaders.
The annual summit between the Indian Prime Minister and the Russian President stands as a pivotal institutional dialogue mechanism within their strategic partnership. Over the years, 21 such summits have alternated between India and Russia, underscoring the significance of their continued engagement.
President Putin underscored the escalating trade turnover between the two countries, citing the surge in areas such as crude oil and high technology as contributors. He notably highlighted the sustained and heightened growth rate in trade turnover for the second consecutive year, indicating the strengthening economic ties between Russia and India.
The invitation extended by President Putin to Prime Minister Modi reaffirms the commitment of both nations to further fortify their multifaceted relationship across diplomatic, economic, and strategic domains. The prospective visit holds promise for deepening cooperation and fostering mutual understanding, cementing the longstanding friendship between Russia and India.
