AA forces Myanmar junta retreat in Rakhine state clash

Intense clashes have erupted once again between the Myanmar junta's military and the Arakan Army (AA) near Pauktaw Town in northern Rakhine State, according to reports from residents and the ethnic army.

Reports indicate that the clashes commenced around midnight on Thursday, prompted by the junta's persistent efforts over the past week to dispatch reinforcements, weaponry, and ammunition to their stationed troops in the town, as reported by the Irrawaddy.
During this attempted reinforcement, three naval vessels were mobilized, but an AA attack resulted in the striking of one vessel, leading to the retreat of all three ships from the area.
Simultaneously, clashes erupted in Ramree Township on Thursday morning, escalating further due to artillery shelling from the junta's forces. The Arakan Army asserted that the military bases under the junta's control in the township indiscriminately fired artillery shells into nearby villages, resulting in reports of casualties among residents, including fatalities and injuries caused by the shelling.
In a distressing turn of events, apart from the shelling, there are allegations that the junta's troops set ablaze homes in villages located close to the state capital, Sittwe, exacerbating the dire situation for the affected communities.
