Iran president Raeisi calls on BRICS states to cut off relations with Israel

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi urged leaders of the BRICS group of emerging economies to take action against the Israeli government, proposing that member nations should consider labeling Israel as a terrorist entity due to its alleged extensive crimes committed in the Gaza Strip.

During a virtual BRICS summit held in South Africa, Raisi presented seven proposals, emphasizing the necessity for the organization to recognize the Israeli regime as a terrorist entity and categorize its military as a terrorist organization.
The summit, convened at Iran's request, focused on discussing the ongoing conflict in Palestine, particularly addressing the Israeli military's actions resulting in the deaths of more than 14,000 individuals in Gaza.
Raisi emphasized the need for unified efforts among BRICS members to break the Israeli blockade on Gaza and facilitate the safe delivery of crucial humanitarian aid to its 2.3 million inhabitants facing dire humanitarian circumstances.
Raisi urged for an investigation into Israel's alleged use of prohibited weapons, including white phosphorous bombs, targeting the civilian population in Gaza during the conflict.
Additionally, the Iranian president called upon BRICS members to acknowledge the Palestinian nation's right to self-defense against Israeli aggression and support their struggle to reclaim lands occupied by Israel over the past decades.
BRICS, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa initially, was later joined by Iran and five other nations in January 2023. The organization was formed to counter Western dominance and enhance cooperation among emerging economies.
