Trump halts all US military aid to Ukraine

US President Donald Trump has suspended military aid to Ukraine, a White House official confirmed on Monday. This decision intensifies pressure on Kyiv to engage in peace talks with Russia.

The suspension follows a highly publicized dispute between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump, eager for a swift resolution to the ongoing war, has been pushing for negotiations between the two nations.
Earlier in the day, Trump refrained from directly confirming the pause when questioned by reporters. However, any delay in the supply of American weaponry to Ukraine could critically impact its ability to counter the Russian offensive.
A White House official speaking anonymously to AFP stated, "The President has consistently emphasized the importance of peace. We expect our allies to share this commitment."
The official further explained, "We are temporarily suspending aid to reassess its role in fostering a resolution to the conflict."
Trump also expressed frustration over Zelensky’s stance, suggesting that the Ukrainian leader should demonstrate greater appreciation for U.S. support. He warned that Zelensky’s position could become untenable without securing a ceasefire agreement with Moscow.
According to a report from The New York Times, the suspension has been enacted immediately, affecting the transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars in military assistance.
Meanwhile, Zelensky reiterated his desire for a swift end to the war. His comments followed accusations that Russia—having initially invaded Ukraine in 2014 and escalating hostilities significantly in 2022—lacks genuine commitment to peace efforts.
Zelensky maintained that strong security assurances are essential for bringing the war to a close.
Trump’s decision to halt aid has raised concerns among U.S. allies and has sparked fears that Washington may be shifting its stance in favor of Moscow.
