US to continue surge of weapons deliveries to Ukraine: Biden
US President Joe Biden
US President Joe Biden reaffirmed his commitment to bolstering Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression following recent aerial strikes on Ukrainian territory.
'I have instructed the Department of Defense to maintain the accelerated pace of weapons shipments to Ukraine. The United States will persist in its efforts to enhance Ukraine’s defense capabilities against Russian forces,' Biden stated on Wednesday.
His comments came in response to Ukraine’s accusations that Russia carried out 'inhumane' airstrikes across the nation on Christmas Day, leaving at least six individuals injured.
According to Biden, the attacks, conducted during the early hours of Christmas, involved waves of missiles and drones targeting Ukrainian cities and critical energy infrastructure.
'The aim of these attacks was to deprive the Ukrainian people of heat and electricity during the harsh winter months and to compromise the safety of their energy grid,' Biden said, condemning the strikes as a deliberate escalation.
