Four people shot dead on US' Chicago train

Four people who appeared to be sleeping on a US's Chicago train were fatally shot Monday morning, and a suspect has been taken into custody, police said.

'The victims were all passengers on the train during the early morning hours,' stated Forest Park Deputy Chief Chris Chin. 'The train was en route to Forest Park when the shootings occurred.'
Deputy Chief Chin mentioned that the victims may have been homeless, though their exact status is still unclear. Investigators are currently collaborating with the Chicago Transit Authority to review surveillance footage from the train, which captured the shooting across two train cars: three victims were in one car, while the fourth was in another.
'We can't confirm the social status of the victims, but based on the footage, they appeared to be asleep at the time of the incident,' Chin added.
The suspect was detained approximately an hour and a half after the shootings, which police believe to be an isolated and random act of violence. Surveillance footage played a crucial role in identifying the individual responsible, according to the police.
