Justin Trudeau sees shift in India relations after US plot revealed

Canadian Premier Justin Trudeau hinted at a shift in India's stance towards Ottawa following revelations from the United States regarding a foiled plot to eliminate a Sikh separatist leader on American soil, as reported by CBC on Wednesday.

Trudeau conveyed a perceived change in India's disposition during an interview with the Canadian Broadcasting Corp, stating, 'I sense there's a beginning of an understanding that they can't simply use forceful rhetoric to navigate through this situation. There seems to be an inclination towards collaboration, which perhaps wasn't as apparent before.'
He further elaborated, expressing, 'There's an acknowledgment that incessant attacks directed at Canada may not offer a resolution to this issue.'
The Canadian Prime Minister had announced on September 18 that Canadian intelligence agencies were actively investigating credible allegations linking Indian government agents to the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a 45-year-old Sikh separatist leader in British Columbia in June. This revelation significantly strained diplomatic relations between Canada and India.
In a subsequent development, the US Justice Department in November charged an individual purportedly orchestrating an unsuccessful assassination scheme targeting a Sikh separatist. The accused, a US citizen of Indian origin residing in New York City, was alleged to have been directed by an Indian government official. However, US officials refrained from disclosing the identity of the intended victim.
