Four killed in US Las Vegas university shooting

Three people were killed and another seriously injured by a gunman who was shot dead by police at a US Las Vegas university.

Law enforcement officials during the briefing held hours after the incident, opted not to publicly disclose the identity of the assailant. They refrained from mentioning any details regarding the suspect's gender and also did not provide information regarding the four victims, three of whom lost their lives due to the gunfire. Additionally, there was no indication of the victims' association with the university.
The distressing event unfolded after authorities received a report of gunfire on the campus around 11:45 a.m. (1945 GMT). UNLV police chief Adam Garcia informed reporters that law enforcement swiftly engaged the suspect in a shootout, resulting in the suspect being fatally shot by campus police.
The surviving victim of the shooting was reported to be in stable condition, according to Sheriff Kevin McMahill from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
During the chaos, apart from the victims directly impacted by gunfire, several others experienced panic attacks. Moreover, a number of officers sustained minor injuries while conducting a thorough search across the vast campus for additional victims or potential suspects. However, no further victims or suspects were discovered during the search.
Authorities did not disclose any possible motives behind the violent incident. Additionally, details about the type of firearm used in the shooting were not made available to the public.
