World Bank vice president for South Asia arrives in Dhaka

The World Bank Vice President Martin Raiser for the South Asia region arrives in Dhaka today (18 September). 

During his two-day visit, Raiser will meet with the chief adviser of the Interim Government,  the finance adviser, the energy adviser, the Bangladesh Bank governor, and other senior government officials, reads a press release. 

The World Bank was among the first development partners to support Bangladesh after its independence. Since then, the Bank has committed about $44 billion to Bangladesh, mostly in grants or concessional credits.
