Microsoft to Invest $80b on AI data centers in Fiscal 2025

Microsoft has unveiled plans to allocate nearly $80 billion toward expanding its AI-focused data centers during fiscal year 2025.

In a blog post, Brad Smith, Microsoft’s Vice Chair and President, emphasized the scale of this commitment: 'In FY 2025, Microsoft is set to invest around $80 billion to develop AI-enabled data centers. These facilities will support the training of advanced AI models and the deployment of AI and cloud-based applications globally.'
Smith highlighted the transformative potential of AI, noting that it could revolutionize industries and enhance productivity across the economy. He also underscored the United States' leadership position in AI development, attributing this success to significant private investment and the innovation of American companies ranging from start-ups to large corporations.
'The United States currently leads the global AI race, driven by private capital and the ingenuity of American enterprises,' Smith stated. He pointed to Microsoft’s experiences as evidence, citing collaborations with OpenAI, emerging firms like Anthropic and xAI, and the company’s advancements in AI-powered software and applications.
