China introduces world's fastest internet at 1.2Tb per Second
China has started to roll out what it’s calling the world’s most Fastest internet network, which promises to operate several times faster than current networks.
This network boasts an astonishing speed of 1.2 terabits (TB) per second, equivalent to an impressive 1,200 gigabits. According to Huawei, the Chinese tech giant leading the project, this speed allows for the transfer of data from 150 movies in just one second.
During a recent press conference, Huawei, in partnership with China Mobile, announced the official launch of this cutting-edge backbone network. This initiative has received support from Beijing's Tsinghua University and Cernet, an educational and research network operating under the auspices of the Chinese government. A backbone network, crucial for efficiently routing internet traffic across vast geographical areas, plays a pivotal role in enabling data-intensive technologies such as 5G and electric vehicles.
Covering an extensive span of approximately 1,800 miles using optic fiber cables, the network extends from Beijing to the southern regions of China. Specific details about further expansion plans across the country have not been disclosed at this time.
