Saudi Arabia set to host FIFA world cup 2034
Football fans worldwide await an exciting announcement as FIFA is expected to confirm Saudi Arabia as the host nation for the 2034 World Cup on Wednesday. With no competing bids, the Gulf nation is set to secure the prestigious tournament’s hosting rights.
This will mark the World Cup's return to the Gulf region after 12 years, following Qatar’s successful hosting of the event in 2022.
Saudi Arabia’s journey to becoming the frontrunner was marked by significant investments in various sports, securing key sponsorship deals, and signing numerous Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to strengthen its position as a prime contender for the tournament.
Meanwhile, India may follow Saudi Arabia’s example as it considers a bid for the 2036 Olympics. Alongside Qatar and Saudi Arabia, India is also a potential candidate for hosting a World Cup in the future.
FIFA has already confirmed that the 2030 World Cup will be hosted jointly by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, as their proposal was the only viable bid after other contenders withdrew. A proposed joint bid from the UK and Ireland was shelved in favor of focusing on Euro 2028, while suggestions of a collaborative bid from South Korea, China, Japan, and North Korea never materialized.
