Shakib Al Hasan announces retirement from Test, T20 cricket

Bangladesh's legendary all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has announced his retirement from both T20 internationals and Test cricket, just a day before Bangladesh's second Test against India at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

Shakib made the decision public on Thursday, ahead of the match against India. According to a report by the Indian Express, 'Going back to Bangladesh is not an issue, but once I’m there, leaving could be difficult.' said Shakib.  He hinted that while he hopes to play his final Test in Mirpur, security concerns might make the Kanpur match his last.
Additionally, Shakib revealed that the 2025 Champions Trophy will mark his final appearance in One Day Internationals (ODIs) for Bangladesh, as per the Indian Express.
Since making his international debut in 2006, Shakib has been an iconic figure in world cricket. He is the only player to have scored 14,000 runs and taken 700 wickets across all formats. In T20 internationals, he ranks third in wicket-taking, with 149 wickets to his name.
