Azerbaijan is set to receive its first batch of JF-17 Thunder fighter jets from Pakistan in the near future, with potential for joint production down the line, Pakistan's Information Minister Atta Tarar revealed during an interview on Nadeem Malik Live.
According to Tarar, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has demonstrated keen interest in bolstering defense ties with Pakistan and has committed a $2 billion investment in the country.
He further stated that discussions on Azerbaijan’s investment in Pakistan have reached their final phase, with agreements anticipated to be formalized during President Aliyev’s upcoming visit to Islamabad in April. 'The Azerbaijani President has expressed great enthusiasm for Pakistan’s defense industry and infrastructure development. Negotiations have also included plans for highway construction and other major initiatives,' he added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif participated in the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Business Forum in Baku alongside President Aliyev, where he underscored the deepening defense collaboration between the two nations. He highlighted the strategic importance of the North-South Corridor, calling it a 'game changer' for regional connectivity.
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to strengthening military cooperation, particularly in defense production. He emphasized the JF-17 Thunder as a symbol of advanced partnership between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, reinforcing their growing strategic alliance.
