Lt Gen Asim Malik Appointed as Pakistan's New ISI Chief
The Pakistan Army has announced the appointment of Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik as the new Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He is set to assume his new role on September 30, replacing the current DG.
The Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the appointment in a press release issued on Monday.
Lt Gen Malik, who is currently serving as the adjutant general at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, will replace Lt Gen Nadeem Anjum, who has held the role since his appointment by former Prime Minister Imran Khan in 2021.
Before his new assignment, Lt Gen Malik has held key military roles, including serving in the Balochistan infantry division and commanding an infantry brigade in Waziristan.
