Imran Khan claims constitutional changes an attempt to keep him in jail

Pakistan's jailed former premier Imran Khan on Monday rejected the anticipated constitutional changes, claiming that it was an effort to keep him in prison by controlling the judiciary.

The 71-year-old former cricketer-turned-politician made the remarks during an informal conversation with journalists at the Adiala Jail, where he has been lodged since August last year.
Khan, who founded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, argued that the purpose of the amendments is to ensure his continued imprisonment. He claimed that the government is attempting to weaken the judiciary in an effort to conceal election fraud. According to him, if the true election results were revealed, the situation would change drastically.
Imran Khan also alleged that the government plans to create a new constitutional court due to its fear of the Supreme Court, adding that such changes would jeopardize the country's future. He criticized those behind the amendment, claiming they have assets abroad and no interest in maintaining an independent judiciary, stating that the priorities of the ruling elite clash with the interests of the nation.
