Imran khan puts onus of apology on army for his detention

Pakistan's Former premier Imran Khan has asserted that the military owes him an apology following his alleged 'abduction' by the Rangers on May 9, 2023.

During a media interaction at Adiala Jail, Khan was questioned about the army's demand for an apology from those responsible for the violent protests on May 9 and whether he would comply. Khan responded by stating that his arrest by the Rangers, led by a serving major general, occurred on the premises of the Islamabad High Court.
On May 7, ISPR Director General Maj Gen Ahmed Sharif indicated that any dialogue with PTI could only proceed if the party apologized for its 'politics of anarchy.' Despite this, Khan has consistently maintained that he has no reason to apologize.
In recent weeks, Khan has repeatedly expressed his willingness to engage in dialogue with the military rather than the government. He reiterated this stance on Saturday, emphasizing that he would only negotiate with the 'real authority' as talks with the government were 'a futile exercise.'
Earlier in the week, the former Prime Minister stated that his party was prepared to engage in discussions with the military establishment under certain conditions: the restoration of his party’s 'stolen mandate,' the release of all detained party workers, and the conduct of transparent elections. Imran Khan also urged the military to designate representatives for these talks.
