US not trying to influence elections in Pakistan: Miller

In a statement released on Monday, the US State Department emphasized that it has no intentions of influencing the forthcoming elections in Pakistan, reiterating its commitment to remaining impartial and not endorsing any particular political party or candidate.

Matthew Miller, the department's spokesperson, provided this assurance in response to a query posed by a journalist regarding the purpose of a recent meeting between US Ambassador Donald Blome and Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja in Islamabad.
Mr. Miller conveyed, I would suggest reaching out to the embassy for precise details on that encounter, which I am confident they will readily supply.
However, I understand the essence of your question. Therefore, I would like to reiterate a point that we have consistently emphasized: the United States maintains a neutral stance concerning the outcome of elections in Pakistan."
Furthermore, he underlined that the United States neither supports any political faction nor endorses any candidate within Pakistan. He added, 'Of course, we strongly advocate for free and equitable elections in Pakistan, just as we do across the globe.'
