Pakistan Accuses Taliban of Unauthorized Construction in Border Dispute

Pakistan has raised concerns over what it describes as the Taliban administration's attempt to establish an "unlawful structure" within its borders. Furthermore, Pakistan has accused Afghan forces of engaging in "indiscriminate firing" during an incident that prompted the closure of the primary border crossing point between the two nations.

The Torkham border crossing, which connects Pakistan and Afghanistan, has remained inaccessible since last Wednesday following a tense exchange of fire between the respective forces. This standoff has left numerous cargo-laden trucks and thousands of travelers stranded in limbo.
Over the weekend, the foreign ministry of the Taliban-led Afghan administration expressed its disapproval of the border's closure. They claimed that Pakistani security forces had opened fire on their troops while they were engaged in repairing an existing security outpost near the border.
Pakistan's foreign ministry spokesperson, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, swiftly responded to these allegations by asserting that the incident was directly linked to the construction of a structure within Pakistani territory by the Taliban-led Afghan administration. Pakistan contends that this construction constitutes a violation of its sovereignty.
The situation remains tense as both nations grapple with the border dispute, further underscoring the complex challenges surrounding territorial boundaries and security concerns in the region.
