Pakistan parliament dissolve for polls without Imran Khan

Pakistan's parliament has undergone dissolution in preparation for an upcoming national election, notably without the participation of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Ex Premier Khan Khan, who is currently incarcerated and banned from engaging in political activities for a duration of five years, will not be partaking in the forthcoming electoral process.
The decision to dissolve the National Assembly, which serves as the lower house of parliament, was enacted late on Wednesday following the counsel of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Sharif, who assumed office in April 2022 subsequent to Khan's removal via a no-confidence motion in parliament, officially requested President Arif Alvi to initiate the dissolution of the assembly, a move that was executed three days ahead of the originally planned schedule.
As per the provisions outlined in Pakistan's constitution, the stipulated timeframe for holding elections entails a period of 60 days subsequent to the dissolution of a legislative assembly on the prearranged date. In cases where the dissolution transpires earlier than the pre-established date, elections are mandated to occur within a span of 90 days.
