US urges direct talks between India and Pakistan

The United States has called upon India and Pakistan to engage in direct talks to address their mutual concerns.

The appeal was made by US State Department Spokesman, Matthew Miller, in response to a proposal put forward by Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, regarding the need for dialogue between the two nuclear-armed neighboring nations.
The US has consistently advocated for direct communication between India and Pakistan on issues of shared interest. By encouraging direct talks, the United States aims to foster a constructive environment where both countries can openly discuss and resolve their grievances.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had expressed his willingness to initiate talks with India while addressing a summit in Islamabad. He emphasized the importance of addressing serious issues through peaceful and meaningful discussions, stating that only then can India and Pakistan move towards becoming 'normal neighbors.'
The proposition of direct talks comes amid longstanding tensions between the two nations, making it crucial for them to find a diplomatic path towards resolving their disputes. By initiating dialogue, India and Pakistan have an opportunity to address pressing issues and work towards improving bilateral relations.
