Pakistan national Elections likely in November
Pakistan's Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, made a significant announcement on Sunday, stating that his government will step down and hand over power to a caretaker administration before their term officially concludes on August 12.
Speaking at a government college in Sialkot, PM Sharif confirmed that they would exit office earlier than anticipated, paving the way for an interim government to take charge.
The impending change in power is likely to lead to general elections scheduled for November. According to the law, if an elected house completes its full five-year constitutional tenure, general elections are held within 60 days. However, in the event of an early dissolution, elections must take place within 90 days of the dissolution.
During a youth loan distribution ceremony in Lahore earlier in the day, PM Shahbaz assured the public that his party, the PML-N, would respect and accept the mandate given by the people in the upcoming polls. He also encouraged the citizens to assess the performance of the PML-N compared to the previous four years, which he referred to as a "saga of destruction." The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of making an informed decision based on the party's track record.
As the nation prepares for the forthcoming elections, all eyes are on the political developments, and citizens eagerly await the formation of the interim government that will oversee the transition to a new administration.
