Bangladesh to think about improving ties if Pakistan apologises

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said Bangladesh's relations with Pakistan will improve if it apologises for war crimes in 1971.

"If Pakistan apologises_ relations will improve a little_" he said in the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday. Because we cannot deny that there was a massacre in 1971. The relationship with the one it will not admit will always be relaxed. We have asked them to apologise in various discussions. They have also said privately. But we want it officially.

"As well as speaking officially_ some responsibilities come in_" he said. Japan helped those who were persecuted after admitting atrocities against koreans in World War II. So don't say 'we're sorry'. With this_ we will have to take positive initiatives to resolve it.

The Minister said_ "Bangabandhu signed a peace agreement for peace and some of our people were in Pakistan and some of them were in Bangladesh and to ensure that they were not inconvenienced.

He forgiven 195 identified war criminals on a condition that they be tried in Pakistan. But Pakistan did not keep that commitment. We have tried war criminals and let them do something.
