Pakistan Foreign Secretary in Dhaka for first bilateral talks since 2010

Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday as Bangladesh and Pakistan will hold the Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) in Dhaka tomorrow, This marks the first formal bilateral meeting between the two nations since 2010.

Upon her arrival, Baloch was received by Ishrat Jahan, Director General of the South Asia Wing at Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to an official source at the ministry.
The talks will be held at the state guest house Padma, with Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin and his Pakistani counterpart Amna Baloch leading their respective delegations.
Baloch assumed the role of Pakistan’s 33rd Foreign Secretary on September 11, 2023. Her visit is part of Islamabad’s renewed efforts to improve diplomatic relations with Dhaka and engage in constructive dialogue.
In a further sign of warming ties, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is expected to visit Bangladesh later this month. His trip will be the first official visit by a Pakistani Foreign Minister to Bangladesh since 2012.
