Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Yunus to visit China, meet Xi Jinping

Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus is scheduled to visit China later this month for a high-level diplomatic engagement, including a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, the interim government announced on Sunday.

According to Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Yunus will depart for China on March 26 and hold formal talks with President Xi on March 28. Alam expressed optimism that the visit will further deepen the longstanding partnership between Bangladesh and China.
Discussions between the two leaders are expected to focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in support of Bangladesh’s ambition to emerge as a key manufacturing center in the region.
During his visit, Yunus will also participate in the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) on March 27, where he will deliver an address on Asia’s evolving global role. The BFA, established by 25 Asian countries along with Australia, serves as a platform for dialogue on regional and international challenges.
Earlier in the day, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen met with Dr. Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna to discuss preparations for the upcoming visit.
