UN chief Guterres departs Dhaka after 4-day visit

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres departed from Dhaka this morning at 9:55 AM, marking the end of his four-day official visit to Bangladesh.

He was seen off at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan and Khalilur Rahman, the Chief Adviser’s High Representative for the Rohingya Crisis.
Prior to his departure, Guterres held a phone conversation with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, during which they exchanged farewell greetings, according to officials.
Throughout his visit, the UN chief engaged in a series of high-level meetings with the Chief Adviser and senior officials, focusing on major topics such as the ongoing Rohingya crisis and climate change challenges. He also traveled to the Rohingya refugee camps alongside the Chief Adviser, where he shared an iftar meal with approximately 10 million displaced Rohingya people.
In addition, Guterres took part in roundtable discussions involving members of the National Consensus Commission, political figures, youth representatives, and civil society leaders.
