Four dead and several missing after India avalanche

An avalanche in Uttarakhand a northern state of India, has claimed at least four lives, with several others still missing, according to authorities.

The disaster struck on Friday in Mana, a village near the Tibet border, sweeping away workers involved in road construction. Rescue teams responded quickly, saving around 50 people from beneath the snow and debris. However, four individuals succumbed to their injuries, the Indian Army confirmed.
Helicopters have been deployed to assist in the search for five missing individuals in the Himalayan region. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami assured that rescue operations were ongoing and that all necessary aid would be provided to those affected.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department had issued warnings of heavy snowfall and rainfall in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. Orange alerts were also declared in several districts of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir due to the risk of snowfall.
