Dhaka-Kuwait discuss safeguards for Bangladeshi expatriates

Dhaka and Kuwait have engaged in discussions aimed at strengthening protections for Bangladeshi expatriates working in the Gulf nation, with a particular focus on employment rights and workplace safety.

The matter was addressed during a meeting between Foreign Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain and Kuwait’s newly appointed Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ali Tunyan Abdul Wahab Hamadah, held at the foreign ministry, as stated in an official press release.
Both parties underscored the need to ensure safe and dignified working conditions for Bangladeshi migrant workers, especially female employees.
Additionally, the discussion explored avenues for increasing employment opportunities for skilled professionals such as medical personnel, engineers, technicians, and IT experts.
The meeting also acknowledged the successful recruitment of 670 Bangladeshi nurses in Kuwait last year, facilitated through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two nations.
