India summons Bangladesh envoy in New Delhi

India summoned Bangladesh's acting High Commissioner Md Nural Islam in New Delhi on Monday to address ongoing border-related concerns.

This move followed Bangladesh's decision a day earlier to summon Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma. During a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka, Bangladesh conveyed its deep concerns regarding recent activities by India's Border Security Force (BSF) along the shared border.
On Sunday, Bangladesh's Foreign Secretary, Md Jashim Uddin, urged the Indian government to ensure its authorities avoid any "provocative actions" that could escalate tensions along the border.
Following the meeting, High Commissioner Verma emphasized the mutual understanding between the two nations regarding border security. "We have an agreement concerning fencing the border for security purposes. The BSF and Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) have been in communication on this matter," Verma told reporters after the meeting, which lasted over 30 minutes.
The diplomatic engagements reflect ongoing efforts to address cross-border concerns and maintain peaceful relations between the neighboring countries.
