China eyes Bangladeshi travellers for expanding medical tourism

China has set its sights on attracting Bangladeshi travellers to its burgeoning medical tourism sector ranging from high-quality medical services to traditional Chinese medicine therapies.

This initiative was spotlighted at the 'Nihao! China' Medical Tourism Promotion Conference held in Dhaka last week. The event marked a significant effort to promote China’s medical tourism offerings while strengthening ties between the two nations, according to a statement from the Chinese Embassy.
The conference emphasized the potential for deeper collaboration in medical tourism and cultural exchange. Experts from both countries discussed various aspects of the Chinese medical tourism experience, presenting tailored travel packages that include health check-ups, wellness retreats, and traditional Chinese medicine therapies. Key entry points such as Beijing, Guangzhou, and Kunming were highlighted as hubs for these services.
Officials noted that the initiative comes at an opportune time, aligning with the upcoming 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh in 2025, which has been designated as the Year of People-to-People Exchanges.
Attendees expressed optimism about leveraging this milestone to foster stronger economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries, with medical tourism emerging as a central focus.
