Dhaka strongly condemns attack on Agartala mission; Delhi regrets security breach

The government of Bangladesh has strongly condemned an attack on its Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India, which occurred monday afternoon. 

Reports indicate that the protest rally, A large group of protesters of the Hindu Sangharsh Samity attacked the Commission. held approximately 200 meters from the mission office at Circuit House, was organized in response to the recent arrest of former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in Dhaka. Media sources, including BBC Bangla, reported that about 150 protesters stormed the mission compound, tore down and desecrated the Bangladesh national flag, and caused property damage.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka expressed grave concern over the incident, stating that the protesters breached the main gate of the mission in a 'pre-planned manner.' Despite the presence of local law enforcement, the protesters vandalized the flagpole, desecrated the flag, and damaged assets within the mission premises.
In response, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement expressing regret over the incident. It emphasized that diplomatic and consular properties should never be targeted under any circumstances. The Indian government assured Dhaka of heightened security measures at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and other diplomatic missions across the country.
