Pakistan's PTI ready for 'do or die' agitation against amendment
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has vowed to launch a decisive movement against the 26th Constitutional Amendment across the country 'without any fear of consequences'.
The PTI leadership has urged the public to join the movement, emphasizing that the amendment poses a serious threat to the independence of the judiciary.
'The current situation calls for a mass protest by every Pakistani, not just PTI members, but from all corners of the country,' said PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja during a press conference in Lahore on Monday.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, speaking at a session of the KP Assembly, declared that this fight is 'do or die' for the people, with no alternative. 'We are not concerned about the consequences,' he added.
Raja further criticized the judiciary reforms outlined in the amendment, stating that while judges on the constitutional bench may not be in uniform, they would be under the control of oppressive forces. He labeled the amendment as a 'direct attack on the Constitution' during his remarks at the Lahore Press Club.
