Pakistan ensures political, economic empowerment of minorities
Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari said that his country has been making efforts to fully ensure political, social and economic empowerment of minorities residing in the South Asian country.
'Pakistan is dedicated to safeguarding the rights and religious freedoms of minorities. The Constitution of Pakistan guarantees these rights to all citizens,' President Zardari emphasized in his message on the occasion of the National Day of Minorities.
Acknowledging the significant contributions of minorities to nation-building, Zardari noted that the government has implemented various measures to protect their rights and provide them with equal opportunities for success.
'In line with this commitment, the government has allocated a 5-percent quota for minorities in public sector jobs and reserved seats in both houses of parliament. These initiatives are aimed at encouraging minorities to actively participate in the political and national development of the country,' he said.
Furthermore, Zardari mentioned that efforts are being made to provide financial aid to underprivileged individuals and scholarships to students from minority communities to support their education.
