Maldives to ban Israelis from entering country amid war in Gaza

The Maldives, renowned for its luxurious resorts, will prohibit Israelis from entering the country. This decision comes amid growing public outrage in the predominantly Muslim nation concerning the conflict in Gaza.

On Sunday, the president's office announced that the Cabinet had decided to amend laws to bar Israeli passport holders from entering the Maldives. a subcommittee will be formed to manage the implementation of this new regulation.
President Mohamed Muizzu plans to appoint a special envoy to evaluate the needs of Palestinians and to initiate a fundraising campaign in their support.
In response, Oren Marmorstein, a spokesperson for Israel's Foreign Ministry, advised Israelis to avoid traveling to the Maldives, including those with dual citizenship. Israelis currently in the Maldives are also encouraged to consider departing.
Last year, nearly 11,000 Israelis visited the Maldives, representing 0.6% of the total tourist arrivals.
