12 more Myanmar border guard, military personnel enter Bangladesh

Amid the ongoing conflict in Myanmar, 12 more members of Myanmar's Border Guard Police (BGP) and army have sought refuge in Bangladesh today.

Shariful Islam, the public relations officer (PRO) at the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) headquarters, confirmed this development, indicating that the precise breakdown of the military and BGP members within the group is yet to be ascertained.
'It is currently difficult to determine the exact composition of the personnel who crossed the border today. Following their arrival, they were safely escorted after depositing their weapons in the cache of the BGB,' he stated.
This recent influx brings the total number of officials seeking sanctuary in Bangladesh over the past three days to 28 individuals.
Previously, on March 30, three members of the Myanmar Army sought refuge through the Naikhongchhari border. Additionally, on March 11, a group comprising 177 personnel from the Border Guard Police (BGP) and the military also sought shelter. All individuals seeking refuge are currently under the custody of the 11th BGB headquarters in Naikhongchhari.
Prior to these incidents, a total of 330 individuals from Myanmar had fled to Bangladesh in various waves. However, on February 15, 330 individuals were repatriated back to Myanmar as part of repatriation efforts.
