UN General Assembly president lauds Bangladesh's resilience

The resilience of Bangladesh was lauded by Ambassador Dennis Francis, President of the UN General Assembly, during a reception hosted by the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York.

Ambassador Francis described Bangladesh's journey as one marked by extraordinary strength, perseverance, and determination, particularly during challenging times.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Francis highlighted Bangladesh's remarkable transformation into an economic powerhouse in South Asia, attributing it to a well-educated workforce and a dynamic youth population. He also noted the significant contributions of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the global discourse on economic equality, social justice, and nuclear disarmament during his addresses to the United Nations.
Ambassador Muhammad Abdul Muhith, the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh, emphasized Bangladesh's resilience and remarkable development progress despite the devastating impact of the Liberation War. He credited Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visionary leadership for Bangladesh's emergence as a development role model, particularly over the past decade.
The event, attended by approximately 150 Permanent Representatives, UN Secretariat officials, international media personalities, think tanks, and dignitaries, celebrated Bangladesh's independence and National Day while acknowledging its significant contributions to global development and peace.
