Narendra Modi displays confidence ahead of elections

In a display of confidence ahead of the upcoming general elections in India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed all ministries to outline annual objectives for their respective departments over the next five years.

This directive, as revealed in a government document reviewed by Reuters, underscores Modi's optimism regarding the electoral outcome set to commence next month.
The document, dated March 11, outlines Modi's instructions to government officials just prior to the Election Commission's announcement of voting dates. With opinion polls favoring Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the opposition, led by the Congress party, struggles to present a cohesive challenge against Modi's formidable popularity. The upcoming government's tenure is expected to span five years.
According to the document, Modi has tasked all departments with formulating comprehensive five-year action plans, aligning with his vision to elevate India from its current middle-income status to that of a fully developed nation by 2047. It further outlines a 100-day plan to be initiated by the incoming government, stemming from these long-term strategies.
