FM Hasan Mahmud to join OIC meeting on Israeli aggression
Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, now in Türkiye, will attend an extraordinary meeting of the the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Jeddah on 5 March to discuss the continued Israeli aggression against Palestinian people.
The OIC has chosen to convene this significant meeting at the General Secretariat headquarters in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A senior official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, presently in Turkey, will journey to Jeddah to partake in the discussions.
Having recently attended the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey from March 1 to 3, Foreign Minister Hasan highlighted the forum's importance as a platform for international dialogue. During the forum, he underscored the critical need for a unified effort to halt the ongoing genocide in Gaza, urging accountability for Israel's actions, which he characterized as crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing.
In continuation of its ongoing initiatives to address the severe Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people since October 7, the OIC previously conducted an open-ended executive committee extraordinary meeting at the foreign minister level on October 18 last year. The upcoming meeting in Jeddah signifies the organization's sustained commitment to addressing the pressing concerns surrounding the situation in the region.
