Another 63 Myanmar border guards flee into Bangladesh

An additional 63 members of Myanmar's Border Guard Police have crossed the border into Bangladesh, seeking refuge amidst the ongoing conflict between military forces and armed insurgents in Myanmar.

The latest influx brings the total number of Myanmar forces taking shelter in Bangladesh to 327, including Border Guard Police (BGP), army personnel, and immigration officials, according to Shariful Islam, the Public Relations Officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
The Tumbru border area in Bandarban's Naikhongchhari Upazila has been gripped by panic over the past week, with regular gunshots emanating from the Myanmar side. The conflict has spilled over into Bangladeshi territory, with gunfire and mortar shells hitting homes, resulting in casualties, including the tragic death of a woman.
Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud expressed his concern, stating that it is unacceptable for people to lose their lives and sustain injuries in Bangladesh due to the conflict in Myanmar.
